How Indian Citizens Can Apply For Sri Lanka Visa

Saint Augustine has quoted beautifully,” the world is a book, and those who do not travel reads only a page”. So those who travel gets an opportunity to marvel at God`s beautiful creation. But those who choose to stay in one place can`t expand the horizon of their perspective beyond their monotonous routine.

Locally or internationally, a luxury trip to Europe or a spiritual retreat to neighboring country like Sri Lanka, one should take out time to travel to faraway lands. If you are an Indian citizen and want to get your first stamp on your passport, you can plan a trip to Sri Lanka. Being a neighboring country to India, Sri Lanka is increasingly becoming one of the popular destinations among Indians.
First the Indian Rupee is stronger as compared to Sri Lankan Rupee and second due to friendly alliance Indians now have the privilege to travel there with ETA or visa on arrival. The visa procedure has become quite simpler and for those who are not aware about the changed policies and guidelines, here is a short bite of everything you must know:
There are two ways of getting a valid visa for the islandic country:
  1. ETA Visa to Sri Lanka- An ETA or (Electronic Travel Authorization) is a visa which is granted online through the web based visa system. It allows a foreign national to visit the country for a short visit within a specific period of time. Anyone who seeks to visit the country for tourism, business conferences and transit purpose can get it by completing an application form.

You can go to our website and fill Sri Lanka visa application form with your correct personal details and applicable visa fees. Once you hit the submit button, you will get your visa approved within 2-3 hours or about 24 hours in some cases.

Once you reach the designated airport, go to immigration counter with the following documents:

  • Printout of approved ETA
  • Valid Passport for a minimum period of six months
  • Return ticket within 30 days of your date of entry
  • First day accommodation address
  • 2 Passport size photographs
  • Adequate funds in bank or working credit cards
The immigration checks and visa stamping will be done in no time. The visa is valid generally for 30 days and allows double entry.

  1. Visa on Arrival-As the name suggests visa on arrival means you get an approved visa at the time you will land at the Colombo airport. You will need to carry all the above mentioned documents and go to Visa or arrival counter. After filling a form you will need to pay the visa fees which will take more time than ETA Visa.

We would recommend for ETA visa as visa on arrival may result in you deporting back to your home country in case of any missing document. Visit our website sri-lankaeta.com for any queries related to visa problems.

7 General Visa Terms Everyone Should Know About

Want to explore the world by travelling across the globe but not having a clue where to start from? Well then let us make your task little simpler. Travelling is fun. It lets you explore different horizons which not only give you a fresh perspective on various things but also enhances your personal growth.

So if you want to travel internationally then the first and foremost thing that you will encounter is-Visa. Different countries provide different guidelines for visa; however the process is more and less similar. If you have applied for the desired visa type or want to initiate the process, you need to become aware of various specifications.
Every single word used in the application for or throughout the process of visa is specialized. Most of the people are unaware with these specified terms and definitions that the authorities use while instructing us about the visa processing or the visa updates. So here the few terms and their meaning that are frequently used in the visa process:

Stay validity & Visa validity- The visa validity signifies the how long the visa is valid. It indicates exactly from which date to which date, the traveler is permitted to go to a specific country and what is the last date for the exit.

On the other hand stay validity indicates the number of days the traveler can remain in the country. The stay validity is generally less than the visa validity. Fir e.g. a tourist Visa for Sri Lanka visa issued on 05th Feb 2018 to 05th Mar 2018 and the duration of stay is 10 days. So here the one month period from 05th Feb to 05th Mar is the visa validity and the 10 days within this period is the stay validity.

Entry controlled visa- When a visa is required only to enter into a particular country then it is an entry controlled visa. For instance- the normal tourist UAE visa is issued for 58 days. The visa allows the traveler to stay for 29 days on this visa from the date of entry. That implies if you enter on the 57th day from the date of issuance you can still stay in UAE for 29 days from that day. Also, you need not have to valid visa while exiting the country.

Exit controlled visa- As the name suggests, the exit controlled visa is completely opposite to entry controlled visa which makes it necessary for a traveler to exit the country before the visa expires. If your visa is valid to say from 11th Feb 2018 to 11th Mar 2018 and the duration of stay is 10 days, and you travel on 5th March, you won't be permitted to stay for 10 days even if your visa pursues the duration of stay as 10 days. You should leave the country most extreme on 11th March 2018.

Embassy & consulate- You must have heard about embassy or consulate where the entire process of visa application takes place. But what exactly are they? An embassy or consulate refers to government representations in another nation. An embassy is the higher representation while a consulate is a smaller version. A country will have only one single Embassy in the foreign country while it can have consulates in many cities of the same country.

Business days-A business day is nothing but basically official working day of the week. The business days exclude Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays or any other special holidays that the Embassy or Consulate will take after.

Stamp visa- A stamp visa demonstrates your entrance ticket to the nation. In most of the cases your visa is appended or rubber stamped on the passport.

E- visa- This is an electronic representation of the visa. The visa can be applied by completing an application form online with personal details. You will receive your visa on your e-mail id which you will provide in the form.

So next time when you hear one of the technical terms at the consulate or by the authorities, don`t scratch your head. As we have explained the most used terms in the most simplified language. For more visa assistance visit sri-lankaeta.com!

5 Levels Of Visa Application Process

What is the most important thing that one needs to take care about when planning for an international trip? Of course it’s the passport. You thought we would say visa? Well we would have but then it would have considered as incorrect which we certainly will never think of doing with our readers.  However we loved the way you mind worked.

But truth to be told, visa does not lag behind the passport, as it is the next important thing which needs to be taken care of once you have your passport in your hands. Once your passport is with you, you will not be required to change it for a long haul. But as far as visa is concerned you will need to apply for a new one for your every trip. However the process of visa application is little more complicated as compared to passport.

Today we are going to talk about various categories of visas in terms of difficulty to acquire them. Our blog will surely help you to decide your next destination.

VISA FREE

Who doesn’t love free stuff? We all do and visa is no exception. Depending on your passport index, there will be many countries that will allow you to travel without the need to obtain a visa. Passport index is the rank or strength of your passport which would allow or deny visa free entry in the respective country. If you are eligible for it, all you have to do is show your passport at the immigration and walk past it.

VISA ON ARRIVAL

The next best thing after visa free travel is visa on arrival. There are many countries that issue visa on arrival to the tourists to the destination country. Once you reach the destination country you will be required to fill up a visa application form along with some other documents like your passport copy, accommodation bookings, photographs etc.
Once the formalities are successfully completed, you would be granted a visa to enter the country. However if the formalities couldn’t be completed due to incomplete document submission, the authorities can deny your entry and you might have to travel back to your home country.

E-VISA

E-visa or electronic visa is similar to electronic ticket. This category is becoming quite popular among the countries that are encouraging travelers to visit their country. As the name suggests, E-visa can be completed online without any documentation process. You will have to provide information about your birth details along with the passport number. In some cases, you might have to upload the copy of travel itinerary, photographs etc.

Your visa will be sent to you on your e-mail id that you will mention in the application form. The time taken by the authorities will depend on your visa type and how accurately you will provide details. This process is more reliable than visa on arrival because you will get intimation in advance about the approval or rejection of your visa application.

SUBMISSION OF PASSPORT

This category involves the submission of your passport along with other physical documents like your bank statements, photographs, ITR etc. needs to be submitted to application center/embassy/consulate. All the documents along with the passport return with a stamp after the verification process is completed. The process time varies according to the country of application and your visa type.

PERSONAL INTERVIEW

This category of visa process is a little complicated and requires lot of time investment and efforts as compared to other categories. Submitting the physical documents is must along with that you might also be asked to provide your biometric information by visiting the application center/embassy/consulate. You may also be required to appear for the interview. Your approval or rejection of visa will depend on the interview with the consular.

Here the list ends. So we hope we must have resolved most of your doubts. Once you decide a place, got through all the requirements and visa procedure for that country. It will help you save lot of your efforts and will save you lot of time.
